Office of Professional Development

The Office of Professional Development (PD) is located in office 1084 at the bottom of the sidewalk steps at the Heartland Educational Consortium (HEC) facility. Dr. Debra Elliott, Coordinator and Heidi Barrera, secretary comprise the PD team.  PD organizes and provides a variety of learning opportunities for executive, administrative, instructional and support personnel to assist them in their quest for improving overall student achievement.

A needs assessment is developed and distributed on an annual basis to all teachers and administrators in six districts to determine their professional development needs. Workshops and trainings are then offered throughout the school year and summer.

PD plays a vital role in helping each of the school districts in achieving their own district goals by ensuring a variety of development opportunities that tap stakeholder’s potential while enhancing the knowledge and skills needed for professional growth. These opportunities help staff succeed in their job, remain current on latest research in their field, and help prepare them for possible advancement.
