ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION TRAINING (ACT)
HEC ACT

 

Program Sequence 2008-2009
 

v     Applicant applies and qualifies for Temporary Professional Educator Certificate from Florida Department of Education

v     Applicant is screened and employed by a school in one of the HEC districts

v     Teacher participates in district orientation/survival training prior to entering the classroom

v     Teacher attends ACT orientation/sign-up

v     Teacher completes Teaching Skills Assessment Program (TSAP), a pre-assessment that generates an ACTion (professional development) Plan

v     Teacher is assigned a mentor

v     Teacher begins attending 10 mandatory classes and submitting assignments for assessment

v     Teacher begins submitting TSAP assignments per ACTion Plan

v     Teacher is evaluated by school administrator

v     Teacher successfully completes ESOL

v     Teacher successfully completes FOR-PD

v     Teacher achieves passing score on required Florida exams:  General Knowledge, Professional Education, and appropriate Subject Area

v     District verifies to FDOE that teacher has successfully completed the Alternative Certification Program

v     Teacher applies for Professional Educator Certificate

v     Teacher teaches 3 years to repay financial obligation
