Florida Diagnostic & Learning Resources System of Heartland (FDLRS/Heartland) is one of nineteen associate centers developed by the Florida Department of Education, Bureau of Exceptional Education & Student Services and funded through federal dollars and state general revenue money. The network has supported educators, families, and agencies working with children with disabilities and special needs for over twenty years. The FDLRS Heartland Associate Center is located in Lake Placid, Florida and serves DeSoto, Glades, Hendry, and Highlands Counties.
FDLRS provides services under the four main functions:
FDLRS and FIN (Florida Inclusion Network) have joined together to better service Florida school districts in their goal to improve the academic success for ALL students. They jointly offer support to districts, schools, teachers, families, and paraprofessionals through: professional development and coaching, knowledge of current teaching and learning trends, state updates about Exceptional Student Education, assistance with all diverse learners, assistive technology information and training, and pre-K screening for disabilities.
