On Wednesday, September 20th, 3rd-5th grade teachers from Wauchula Elementary School spent their first early release day digging into the the B1G-M’s with Stacey Hinson, HEC's Math Specialist.
A card sort activity was used to match the different components of the B1G-M and what they can find in each component. Time was spent understanding how to use the B.E.S.T. Instructional Guide for Mathematics to improve instruction and student learning. Teachers also created a visual image of what they expect to see from their students if asked to demonstrate one of the 7 Mathematical Thinking and Reasoning Standards (MTR’s).
