computer science task force

Heartland Educational Consortium (HEC) has announced the formation of a new Computer Science Task Force, calling on passionate K–12 educators across the region to help strengthen and expand computer science instruction for students. The initiative aims to support educators, foster district-wide collaboration, and increase opportunities in the rapidly growing field of computer science.

The Task Force will bring together a group of educators—including classroom teachers, instructional coaches, media specialists, and technology leaders—from elementary, middle, and high schools. The group’s mission is to build teacher capacity, curate high-quality instructional resources, and support the expansion of computer science opportunities throughout HEC’s member districts.

Our goal is to empower educators with the tools, training, and collaboration they need to confidently integrate computer science into their classrooms. By supporting teachers, we are directly investing in students’ future-ready skills.

HEC emphasized that the Task Force is open to any educator with a passion for computer science integration—not just those currently teaching CS-related courses. A stipend will be provided to participating members as part of their commitment to the project.
